Over on Instagram (follow ToolGuyd here), someone messaged me and asked for my thoughts on this Dewalt DCKSS699M2 cordless power tool combo kit, which is on sale at Lowe’s for $499.
Okay – let’s take a look at what you get:

- DCD796 brushless hammer drill
- DCS356 brushless oscillating multi-tool (3-speed)
- DCF887 brushless impact driver (3-speed)
- DCS367 brushless compact reciprocating saw
- DCS570 brushless circular saw
- DCW210 brushless sander
- (2) 4.0Ah batteries
- Charger
- Rolling tool bag
I’ve never seen this Dewalt DCKSS699M2 20V Max cordless power tool combo kit before, and it also looks to be a Lowe’s exclusive since they’re the only ones listing it online right now.
All of the tools in this “XR 6-tool kit” are Dewalt’s premium/regular models, meaning they’re not seasonal or value-oriented tools, they’re the tools that are offered year-round in Dewalt’s regular kits, combos, and bare tool options.
6 tools, 2 batteries, a charger, and a rolling tool bag.
Is this a good value? I would look at Dewalt’s combo kit for comparison, which is currently priced at $399 at Tool Nut and elsewhere. It was a little lower at Amazon recently, but is currently out of stock there. Acme Tools also has it for $399.
With that Dewalt 20V Max brushless cordless power tool combo kit, you get 4 tools – a drill/driver, impact driver, circular saw, and LED flashlight, with 2 compact batteries.
This Lowe’s deal, DCKSS699M2, upgrades the drill/driver slightly to a hammer drill/driver, upgrades the batteries from compact 2.0Ah to 4.0Ah, and swaps the flashlight and gives you 2 extra tools to add in a compact reciprocating saw, oscillating multi-tool, and sander.
The Lowe’s deal is just $100 more than the XR brushless 4-tool combo kit right now. There was a Black Friday deal on that 4-tool combo last year, but there’s indication that will be repeated this year.
Should you buy this? While you can get more tools for the same money, I think this is the best selection of Dewalt cordless power tools you could hope for at this price point. I’d say if you have $500 spend, this is a very good combo kit, one with no “gotchas.”
If this combo kit somehow gets discounted further, and I doubt that will happen, you should be able to do a price adjustment afterwards. If you wait too long and it sells out (which shouldn’t happen all that fast given the timing), there are other options, but not as great of a package deal as this one.
This seems to be a very good deal.
Who should buy this? Anyone looking for a more power and performance-focused Dewalt cordless combo kit bundle.
Who should not buy this? Anyone who is willing to settle for lower performing or less featured tools at a lower price or for a higher tool-count combo at the same price.
Special Price: $499

Over at Home Depot, there is an alternate Dewalt 20V Max brushless cordless power tool kit as part of their “free bonus tools with purchase promo”. Let’s take a look at what you get if you add in an oscillating multi-tool and sander as your bonuses.
Here are the differences:
- Home Depot bundle is $100 less
- Home Depot bundle has a jig saw instead of a circular saw
- Lowe’s bundle has a better drill + hammer drilling function
- Lowe’s bundle has a better impact driver + 3-speed
- Lowe’s bundle has a bigger reciprocating saw
- Lowe’s bundle has a 3-speed vs. single speed oscillating multi-tool
- Lowe’s bundle has 4.0Ah vs. 2.0Ah batteries
- Lowe’s bundle has a rolling tool bag vs. hand bag
This Home Depot special gives you mostly Atomic-class cordless power tools, and while still brushless, the XR-class tools in Lowe’s bundle are one notch better.
With this Home Depot deal, you also get a one-handed reciprocating saw and cordless jig saw, which could complement a users’ existing circular saw or full-sized reciprocating saw.
If you can swing the extra $100, the Lowe’s deal is much more appealing in my opinion.
